What is the AC Rating, and why is it important?

The AC (Abrasion Criteria) rating determines the product's strength levels at various conditions. It is a series of tests; for example, how something holds up at different levels of foot traffic or under pressure, such as furniture legs.

Breaking down the AC Ratings

This is a one-to-six rating system. As the numbers go up, so does the strength of the laminate flooring.

AC-1 and AC-2 should only be used for low-traffic areas, such as walls, closets, interior rooms, etc. AC-3, which we mainly carry, is appropriate for most residential use.

AC-4 is for heavier residential and light commercial use. AC-5 and AC-6 are used for public buildings, schools, stores, etc.

Thickness matters

Laminate surfaces range from 6 to 12 mm. It is best to choose one at least 8 mm.
