Laminate Layers
A laminate floor is made of wood. Typically, it has four layers that are fused with extreme pressure and high heat. It is this multi-layer construction that makes it so durable. Each layer, listed below from bottom to top, has a specific purpose.
- Back, or bottom, layer - balances the floor; protects the floor against moisture and keeps it from buckling if it exposed to wetness
- Core layer - high-density fiberboard that bears the weight
- Design layer -? floor?s surface appearance
- Wear layer - clear layer made of aluminum oxide; protects against stains and fading
Quality
Nielsen Bros Flooring can install tiles in your home if you like the look of stones like limestone, travertine, marble, and slate. Or we can install planks if you prefer the look of woods like oak, hickory, and maple. Be sure to consider the AC rating, which measures durability, when you compare laminate products. AC1 is ideal for areas like bedrooms that don't get much foot traffic. But you need tile or planks that have an AC3 rating for areas like kitchens that are frequently used, especially if you have children or pets. This type of flooring can last up to 25 years.
Planks and tiles are usually installed to create floors that float over the subfloor. No glue is needed. You need a well-prepared subfloor with this method of installation, and you can count on Nielsen Bros Flooring to take care of this part of your flooring project. We offer many services like design consultation, free in-home measurement, custom towers, and tub surrounds, custom granite fabrication, and carpet disposal. It's easy to request a free flooring estimate with our online form. It's also simple to pay for your new laminate floor with financing through Synchrony Financial.
